How they did it!

I am learning how to paint skin tones the way the masters did hundreds of years ago. My fine mentor (to be named) created a drawing and then I painted this piece following his directions. I used many layers of thin oil to build up the values and hues on this piece. Adding the drapery was the most fun, when you can see the form below it makes the process of designing the drapery to wrap around the body really interesting.
